The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort has recently announced an amazing list of Special Guests for the Punta Mita Golf Challenge 2015.

Meet the special guests who will joined the this great event.

oakey Corey Pavin

Corey Allen Pavin is an American professional golfer who is a 15-time PGA Tour winner, a U.S. Open Champion in 1995 and Captain for the 2010 Ryder Cup U.S. team. He spent over 150 weeks in the top-10 of the Official World Golf Ranking between 1986 and 1997 winning onn the European Tour, the Japan Golf Tour, the PGA Tour Australasia and in 2012 on the PGA Champions Tour.

Born in Oxnard California, Corey Pavin quickly established himself in the sport, since his first PGA Tour victory at the 1984 Houston Coca-Cola Open, he won at least one event on either the PGA Tour or the international tour nearly every year for the next decade, and topped PGA Tour’s money list in 1991, that same year he was also named the PGA Player of the Year. He played on three Ryder Cup teams in 1991, 1993 and 1995. In 2002 he was named to the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame.

On July 27, 2006, during the first round of what would become his 15th tour title, Pavin broke the record for the fewest number of strokes needed to complete nine holes at a PGA Tour event, with an 8-under par score of 26. His 36-hole total of 125 also tied the record for fewest shots taken in the first 36 holes of a PGA Tour event held by Tom Lehman, Mark Calcavecchia, and Tiger Woods. Corey is presently playing on the PGA Champions Tour.

Iconic chef Montse Estruch, direct from El Cingle in Barcelona, will grace the Carolina kitchen at St. Regis Punta Mita Resort from one month from the 22nd of December. Winner of the renowned Michelin star and previous guest chef for the Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf, her bespoke and unique degustation menu will be available exclusively at the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort.

Maycoll Calderon – Chef J&G Grill

A native of Caracas, Venezuela Chef Calderon has toured around Spain, United States and Puerto Rico, which has favored him with his cuisine and ingredients in large part America. He currently serves as executive chef of J & G Grill in Mexico City.


weaverDrew Weaver – PGA player

Originally from High Point, North Carolina Drew grew up playing at nearby Willow Creek Country Club. In 2007 Drew won the British Amateur Championship with a 2 & 1 victory over Australian Tim Stewart. He played college golf at Virginia Tech and began competing in professional tournaments shortly after graduating in 2009. He made his first cut in a major at the 2009 U.S. Open where he finished tied for 40th and played on the Winning 2009 Walker Cup team. Since 2010, Weaver has played mostly on the eGolf Professional Tour. He also played two events on the PGA Tour in 2010: the Greenbrier Classic and the Wyndham Championship. In 2011, he played in The Memorial Tournament, finishing T45. It was his third cut in his ten career PGA Tour events. In 2012, Drew won 2 events on the  eGolf Tour: The 2010 Caddy for a Cure Classicand the Southern Open.

gillespieDerek Gillespie – PGA player

Gillespie started playing events on the Canadian Tour in 2002 winning on 2 occasions, The 2002 Myrtle Beach Barefoot Championship and the 2003 Corona Ixtapa Classic by 8 strokes. David won The Big Break Prince Edward Island, a golf reality television show on the Golf Channel and played on the Tour in 2014. As an Amatuer, David was a member of the 1995 and 1996 Canadian Junior National Teams and the 2000 Pac-10 Conference Team at University of Arizona while he also represented Canada at the Eisenhower Trophy.

bradfordGeorge Bradford – PGA player

The Maryland native has competed on the PGA Tour, the Tour and various mini-tours over his 14 year professional career. A career that is highlighted by a 2008 season in Canada where he finished fifth on the Final order of merit behind three second-place finishes. Bradford is one of only four African-Americans currently a member of the PGA tour family and often lectures about the importance of Diversity in the game of golf. When he is at home not competing he often donates his time to the First Tee Program and Boys and Girls Club of America promoting golf and discussing opportunities that exist in the Golf Industry. As a Junior Golfer he was one of the best golfers in the mid-Atlantic region and went on to play golf at the University of Maryland.


oakeyDerek Oakey – PGA player

Ever since picking up a golf club at the age of two, Derek has been involved in the vast world of golf. After accumulating wins and accolades across the Southeastern United States as a junior golfer, Derek had a successful college career at Georgia State University. While at GSU, he was a two-time academic All-American and helped his team reach the NCAA tournament five times, making it to the finals three of those years. Derek turned professional in the Fall of 2007 and has since competed on a variety of tours worldwide. He has spent most of his time on the PGA Tour Canada, but his career best finish came on the eGolftour in 2010, where he placed outright second. In the Fall of 2009, Derek was just one shot shy of reaching final stage at the PGA Tour qualifying tournament.Derek has gained tremendous life experience on the road and enjoys sharing his experiences and deep knowledge of golf with others. When not on a golf course, Derek’s is inspiring others in sustainable golf through his company Fore Green.

stewartKordell Stewart – NFL player

Nicknamed “Slash,” Kordell is a former American Football quarterback who played eleven years in the National Football League (NFL). Stewart attended the University of Colorado and was the 60th player selected in the 1995 NFL draft. Playing for Colorado in 1994 he completed a Hail Mary pass to beat the University of Michigan 27–26, a play which became known as “The Miracle at Michigan.” Among NFL quarterbacks, his 38 rushing touchdowns ranks second all-time. The NFL Network named him #6 on its list of the 10 most versatile players in NFL history.
