Second section of Las Varas - Puerto Vallarta highway, now in operation

Yesterday, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation opened a new section of the Las Varas-Puerto Vallarta Highway, which has allowed travellers to reduce their journey time by 40 minutes. The 30.8-kilometre stretch stretches from La Florida Junction to La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Junction. This makes two sections totalling 54.4 kilometres now in operation, with a 55-minute travel time reduction for users. Work on an additional third section is currently underway.

When finished, the project will span 86.5 kilometres and benefit 17 communities along its route; connecting them with the Riviera Nayarit tourist corridor and Puerto Vallarta via Guadalajara-Tepic highway as well as providing direct access to the airport - thus making it the fastest path between Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta.
