St. Regis + ArteMita = cool, cultural events

article-image

It’s a winning equation: St. Regis + ArteMita = fab art events in Punta Mita. And this time, not only can you view terrific contemporary art on display but you can create some of your own.

Fernando Diaz, acclaimed Mexican contemporary abstract artist will be exhibiting his recent works of art, and he’ll also share his vision of how to create art, in a pair of workshops to be held on Tuesday, November 23.  Coordinated by ArteMita, the workshops are open to St. Regis guests and Punta Mita Resort residents. Adults convene in the morning session (10-noon) while the afternoon (1-3) is reserved for those naturally creative kids. Cost is just $25 for the two hours of expert instruction, but space is limited, so jump on it and book your place now (via tcgallery@aol.com or (505) 670-7705), or you’ll have to settle for just more golf-playing or beach-laying.

Then, on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 6-7:30pm, see what the new masters have produced at a cocktail reception at the St. Regis Cultural Center. (I don’t know about you, but having a guaranteed exhibit the day after a workshop is enough to get me to sign up!) Artwork created by the workshop participants will be sold via a silent auction, with 100% of the proceeds going to benefit the Costa Verde International School in Sayulita.

Same time, same place, be among the first to view the exhibit of works by Diaz, which will continue on display in the St. Regis Cultural Center through January 2011. ArteMita will donate 10% of the sale of any of Diaz’s work on this evening to the Costa Verde school.

For more details, call the St. Regis Concierge, 291-5845, or via email at punta.mita@stregis.com.

We love how ArteMita is bringing contemporary Mexican art to Punta Mita, because frankly, we think Punta Mita is a work of Mexican contemporary art!
